Technical Publications Writer (August 2002 to September 2006)
I was one of two writers developing technically accurate user information for a multi-service optical transport communications platform. Our team published a 2000-page suite for our company. We also converted and published the information for our three partner companies who re-branded and re-sold our products.
I designed and developed the technical content in the management system guides: Product Overview, Server Guide, and three User Interface Guides (GUI, CLI, TL1). I also created content for the Provisioning Guide.
This guide included task-oriented procedures required to set up and operate the telecommunication product as well as network applications content (TDM services, Ethernet services, and DCS services). I developed the content by researching industry standards and interviewing the engineering team. I used FrameMaker to consolidate and publish all the technical content. I created graphics using Microsoft Visio, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Paint Shop Pro to illustrate the technical information.
Additionally, I redesigned the information suite to focus on products and functional tasks. I also created javabased online help with WebWorks Publisher and used the source content from FrameMaker files.
